Installation Process:

1. Prepare the Night Lock (for floor mounting):

  • Important Note: This step requires drilling into the floor. If you have tile flooring, consider consulting a professional for proper installation to avoid damaging the tiles.
  • Place the Night Lock on the floor, about 2 inches from the bottom of the door and 1/8 inch away from the door frame. Mark the top and bottom holes with a marker.
  • Using the drill and 1/4-inch bit, drill pilot holes at the marked locations from inside the house.

2. Install the Night Lock Door Plate:

  • Position the Night Lock base plate against the door, aligning it with the drilled holes.
  • Insert the top screw and tighten it securely.

3. Attach the Stop Spacer:

  • Take the second screw and place the stop spacer on it, with the tapered end facing the door plate.
  • Screw this assembly into the bottom hole of the Night Lock base plate.

4. Install the Door Armor Jamb Shield:

  • This shield protects the lockset area on the jamb.
  • The shield should have pre-cut knock-out holes to fit various lock placements. Select the hole that aligns with your lockset and detach it.
  • Position the shield on the jamb, aligning the hole with your lockset, and secure it with the provided screws.

5. Install the Door Armor Hinge Shields:

  • These L-shaped shields go over your existing door hinges for added security.
  • Simply place the shield over the hinge and secure it with the screws.

6. Install the Mini Door Shields (optional):

  • These small shields reinforce the door itself to prevent kicking or prying attempts.
  • Position and screw them onto the door following the manufacturer's instructions (usually on the door's side edge).

    • One screw hole on the Hinge Shield should hopefully line up with an existing screw hole on the hinge itself.
    • Use this hole for initial placement, marking additional screw points through the designated holes on the shield if needed.

My Door is Too Tight - Door Armor Won't Fit

We always try to make sure that people perform the 2 quarter test before purchasing Door Armor.  If your door is too tight, there are a few tricks that you can try.

  1. Try to over-tighten the screws in the middle hinge and hinge shield.  Believe it or not, this will often create more room on the other side of the door.
  2. Try to over-tighten the screws in the Jamb Shield, around the lock area.  Most doors have extra space behind the doorjamb.  This often works to give you a little extra space.
  3. If the door is still to tight, the Pro Door Shields are made specifically for doors with minimal clearance between the door and door frame.  The article below talks about the difference between the MINI and PRO Door Shields - Will Door Armor Fit - 2 quarters clearance
